About the hotel
Floors 10–16 with panoramic views over Stockholm
ApartDirect Älvsjö is an aparthotel with 77 serviced apartments spread across floors 10 to 16 in a high-rise building in Älvsjö, south of Stockholm city centre. All apartments are located on the upper floors and offer panoramic views over the city – one of the most distinctive features that sets the hotel apart from lower-positioned alternatives in the same price range. It is a concrete advantage to be aware of when choosing your room: all categories share this feature, not just the more expensive ones.
The hotel operates without a traditional reception desk. Check-in is via digital key codes, and a support service available 24 hours a day can be reached by phone or digitally if anything arises. This means that arrival outside regular office hours works without intermediaries, but it also means there is no staff on site for physical services such as luggage storage or concierge services. Since the entire check-in process is digital, it is important that guests have access to their booking confirmation and support contact details upon arrival. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged in advance for a fee.
Parking is available in a private car park nearby for a fee of 120 kronor per day and requires advance booking. Street parking is also available in the area. The hotel has no restaurant, bar or breakfast service – it is a self-catering facility, which the pricing normally reflects. For guests planning longer stays, it is worth mapping out the nearest supermarket and restaurants in the neighbourhood in advance.
Four room categories with kitchens and clear differences in size and beds
The apartments come in four categories with different sizes and bed capacity. Queen Studio is the smallest type at 21 square metres with a queen-size bed and accommodates up to two guests. Twin Studio at 27 square metres has two single beds and suits two guests who prefer separate beds. Superior Studio with sofa bed is 28 square metres and has a double bed plus a sofa bed. One-bedroom apartment is the most spacious category at 39 square metres with a bedroom with double bed and a separate living room with sofa bed – the difference from Superior Studio is that the bedroom and living room are separated, which provides more privacy for groups sharing an apartment.
All apartments are equipped with a kitchen with hob, microwave and refrigerator. Bathroom with shower and hairdryer are included in all categories. Flat-screen TV and streaming service are available in the rooms, as well as free wi-fi. Bed linen and towels are provided. The fact that the kitchen is equipped for cooking means that guests can shop and cook on their own, which over longer stays can provide significant savings compared to eating out every day.
There are shared washing machines and tumble dryers in the building, available to guests. This facility is particularly relevant for longer stays when the need to do laundry arises naturally. The hotel does not accept pets, which is worth checking before booking for guests travelling with animals.
Walking distance to Stockholm Fair and commuter train to the city
The hotel's geographical location in Älvsjö is central for guests with business at Stockholm Fair, which is approximately a five-minute walk from the hotel. This makes ApartDirect Älvsjö a natural choice during fairs and congresses, and occupancy tends to be high during such periods. Guests planning a stay in connection with an event at Stockholm Fair should book well in advance, as available rooms and prices are noticeably affected by the fair calendar. The proximity means that guests can walk to and from the fair without needing to take a bus or taxi.
Älvsjö commuter train station is approximately a five-minute walk from the hotel, and from there the commuter train takes approximately ten minutes to Stockholm Central Station. This provides access to the entire underground network and the city centre without the need for a car. The bus stop Prästgårdsärdet is within a five-minute walk and offers additional public transport connections. For guests with cars, it is worth noting that the parking is not located directly at the hotel but nearby and requires advance booking, which makes it wise to arrange this already when planning your arrival.
In the surrounding neighbourhood there are restaurants within walking distance. The hotel itself offers no food service, neither breakfast nor other meals, which means that guests either cook in the apartment's kitchen or seek out restaurants nearby. The combination of commuter train location and fair proximity makes the hotel a practical option for both business travellers and leisure travellers who want easy access to Stockholm city centre.
Self-catering without reception – what it means in practice
ApartDirect Älvsjö positions itself clearly as a self-catering hotel rather than a traditional service hotel. The concept is based on guests being able to manage independently during their stay: the kitchen is equipped for cooking, laundry is handled in the shared laundry rooms in the building and check-in takes place without personal contact via the key code system. For guests staying several days or weeks and wanting to keep food costs down, this is a practical and cost-effective solution. The combination of its own kitchen and shared laundry room makes the hotel particularly suitable for longer business trips or project assignments in the Stockholm area.
There is no room service, no breakfast buffet and no luggage storage. The support service is available 24 hours a day by phone, but this is not the same as a staffed reception on site. Check-in is possible from 3:00 pm and check-out must be completed by 11:00 am. Early check-in or late check-out can be arranged in advance for a fee by contacting the hotel.
The hotel is completely non-smoking indoors and there is a designated smoking area outside. A lift is available in the building, which is necessary given that the apartments start on the tenth floor. Overall, the concept is best suited for guests who value independence, their own kitchen and a competitive price in relation to the location near Stockholm Fair and the commuter train network, rather than for those seeking a full-service hotel with staff in the lobby.
