About the hotel
Built into the arena: accommodation directly beneath the event floor
Bo Hotel describes itself as Sweden's first hotel offering accommodation inside an arena, literally beneath the event floor of 3Arena (formerly Tele2 Arena) in Johanneshov. The hotel has been welcoming guests since 2013 and is part of the entertainment and restaurant complex Tolv Stockholm at Arenavägen 69, a complex housing restaurants, a bowling alley, an arcade, adventure golf, a nightclub and karaoke under one roof. It is therefore not a standalone hotel in the traditional sense but an integrated part of a larger entertainment destination.
The hotel has 12 rooms divided into four categories plus 4 sleep boxes. Moderate rooms are 13–18 square metres and accommodate up to 2 guests, Standard rooms 17–25 square metres and accommodate up to 2 guests, Superior rooms 19–22 square metres with a sofa bed and accommodate up to 4 guests, and the Family room is 40 square metres and accommodates up to 8 guests. Sleep boxes do not have private bathrooms and showers; these are shared with other guests in the corridor. Check-in takes place via Boston Grill, which is directly adjacent to the hotel. Express checkout and luggage storage are available.
The geographical location is crucial to understanding the hotel's character. 3Arena is directly adjacent and Avicii Arena – formerly known as Globen – is within walking distance. Globen underground station on the green line is approximately 500 metres from the hotel. The hotel has no dedicated car park, but paid parking is available nearby. The close connection to the arenas means the hotel is designed for a specific purpose: to provide event visitors with comfortable accommodation without transport after a concert or match. Guests seeking a quiet location should consider that Arenavägen is a busy thoroughfare and that the nightclub in the Tolv complex keeps late hours.
Four room categories and four sleep boxes – concrete differences
Bo Hotel has twelve guest rooms divided into four categories plus four sleep boxes inspired by the Japanese capsule hotel concept. The differences between the categories are concrete and noticeably affect your stay.
The smallest rooms, Moderate, are 13–18 square metres and accommodate up to two people with two single beds. Standard rooms are 17–25 square metres, have windows facing the street and accommodate up to two people; they can also be part of a larger connecting room. Superior rooms are 19–22 square metres with two single beds and a sofa bed and accommodate up to four people. The Family room is 40 square metres with two single beds, two bunk beds and a sofa bed and accommodates up to eight guests. All standard rooms have air conditioning and free wifi. The bathrooms have a shower and hairdryer. Daily cleaning is included and an iron with ironing board can be requested on demand.
Sleep boxes are a substantially different category and differ from standard rooms in several ways. They are compact sleeping units with space for two people in a bunk bed. Unlike standard rooms, sleep boxes do not have a private bathroom; toilets and showers are communal and located in the corridor outside the boxes. Free wifi applies in sleep boxes just as in other rooms. Check-in does not take place at a traditional reception but in connection with Boston Grill, which is directly adjacent to the hotel. Express checkout, luggage storage and a safe deposit box in the reception area are available to all guests regardless of room category, meaning basic service functions are shared by everyone staying at Bo Hotel.
Boston Grill and Tolv Stockholm's restaurants as dining options
The hotel has no restaurant of its own, but Boston Grill – which also serves as the check-in point – is directly adjacent to the hotel and serves American-inspired food. The restaurant is part of the Tolv Stockholm complex and is the natural gathering point for the hotel's guests, especially in the evenings after events at 3Arena or Avicii Arena. The fact that check-in takes place here means guests are in the heart of the complex's restaurant and entertainment offerings from the moment they arrive.
Within the Tolv complex there are additional restaurants and bars. Verified sources indicate four restaurants within the complex. This means guests have access to a varied food offering without needing to leave the building, which is convenient for late evenings or bad weather. Whether breakfast is included in the price varies depending on room type and booking channel – check the terms and conditions at the time of booking.
In addition to food, Tolv Stockholm offers a bowling alley, an arcade with billiards, table tennis and shuffleboard, adventure golf, karaoke and a nightclub. A hairdresser's salon is also in the complex. It is a broad offering that makes the hotel function as a base for an entire evening of activities without needing to go anywhere. The complex's size and variety of activities means there is always something to do regardless of the group's composition or interests. The downside is that the nightclub and restaurants generate noise and movement in the building during late hours, which is a factor to consider for those planning an early morning the day after an event.
Public transport and surroundings – getting to and from Johanneshov
Johanneshov is not a central Stockholm location in the conventional sense, but Globen underground station on the green line provides direct connections to the city centre. Globen underground station is approximately 500 metres from the hotel. The hotel has no parking, and on event days traffic in the area is intense, which is why public transport is the practical option for most guests. Since Bo Hotel is located in the 3Arena complex via Tolv Stockholm, the walking distance to Avicii Arena is short, meaning guests arriving by underground at Globen station naturally pass the hotel entrance on the way to the arenas.
Near the hotel is SkyView, the gondola attraction on the outside of Avicii Arena, approximately 500 metres away. Globen Shopping Mall is directly adjacent to the hotel via the Tolv complex. Hammarbybacken and Eriksdalsbadet are both approximately 2.1 kilometres away. Boston Grill, which serves as the hotel's check-in point, is directly adjacent within the same complex.
For those travelling to Stockholm primarily for an event at 3Arena or Avicii Arena, the location is rational: you avoid late underground journeys home and can go directly from the arena to the hotel. For those planning to explore Stockholm's city centre, museums or Gamla Stan, the hotel is a functional but not central option – the underground solves your transport needs, but the location means you spend time in transit. The hotel offers express checkout and luggage storage, which facilitates guests with early departures.
