About the hotel
Barception – the hotel's combination of reception and bar in the lobby
Comfort Hotel Kista is operated by Strawberry and has 194 rooms spread across four floors. The hotel is entirely non-smoking and is based on a concept that keeps prices down by eliminating services such as a minibar and daily housekeeping – cleaning takes place every fourth day unless otherwise agreed with staff at check-in.
The most distinctive feature is the so-called Barception: a space where check-in, bar and food service are combined in a single open room. Here guests can check in, purchase food and drink, or work at a table without needing to move between separate departments. Barception is staffed 24 hours a day and offers snacks, packaged food, soft drinks, coffee and alcoholic beverages. The lobby is designed to function as an informal workplace with seating for co-working, and the hotel actively markets it as an alternative to conference rooms for shorter meetings and spontaneous work sessions. There is no separate restaurant – all food and drink is handled via Barception.
Breakfast is served as a buffet and is not automatically included in the room rate but is booked separately, making it possible to keep the base price down for guests who prefer to eat elsewhere. The hotel has a self-service laundromat on site, which is unusual in this price range and makes it practical for longer stays. Luggage storage and quick check-in and check-out are available via the 24-hour reception, which facilitates guests with early departures or late arrivals.
Room categories from standard to family rooms and XXL
The hotel offers several clearly distinct room categories with different sizes and facilities. The standard room comes in two variants: with a double bed (160 cm) or with two single beds (90 cm), both in the size range of 15–20 m². The superior room is also 15–20 m² with a double bed and additionally has a small kitchenette with microwave and shelving for crockery, making it a natural choice for longer stays where access to a small kitchen is important. The family room combines a double bed with a sofa bed and thus accommodates more than two guests without needing to book separate rooms. The XXL room, which is booked directly with the hotel, is said to accommodate up to six people and is thus the hotel's most spacious option for larger groups.
All rooms have a TV with Google Chromecast, blackout curtains, full-length mirror, desk and climate control. The bathrooms have a walk-in shower and hairdryer. All rooms are non-smoking. Accessible rooms are available, and pets are welcome upon request. The standard room and family room do not have a kitchen, making the superior room the clearest choice for those planning a longer stay with a need for simple cooking.
The hotel was built in 2018 and the most recent recorded renovation is the same year, meaning that the interior and facilities are relatively new compared to many competing hotels in the same price range. The interior is functional and uniform rather than individually designed, with a clear focus on what the guest actually needs during their stay, whether it is a shorter business visit or a longer stay in Kista.
Podcast studio and three meeting rooms for up to 20 seated participants
Comfort Hotel Kista has three meeting rooms with clearly different capacities and uses. The largest room is 40 m² and accommodates 20 people in formal boardroom style; it has large windows with natural light, kitchenette, 75-inch TV screen, video conferencing equipment and wifi. The smaller meeting room is 13 m² and accommodates 10 people in boardroom style with natural light. Standing, the three rooms can together accommodate up to 45 participants, which provides some flexibility for standing presentations or networking events.
The third room is the hotel's podcast studio: a 13 m² soundproofed room equipped with four RODE microphones and a Scarlett sound card. The room can be booked for recording and requires the guest to bring their own computer. It is a concrete and unusual feature in a hotel in this category and is aimed at companies or individuals who need a fully equipped recording environment without hiring an external studio.
The maximum capacity for conferences is 20 seated participants, making the hotel suitable for smaller meetings, workshops and board meetings rather than large conferences. Those planning an event with more participants should instead look at Kista Mässan, which is within walking distance of the hotel and has considerably larger capacity. The lobby also functions as an informal complement to the bookable rooms for shorter meetings and spontaneous discussions during the day. Overall, the hotel offers a well-thought-out and varied meeting environment that covers the needs for smaller groups and podcast producers in one place.
Kista Science City: underground station, shopping centre and Kista Mässan within walking distance
The hotel is located at Isafjordsgatan 21 in Kista, Stockholm's established technology and business district. Kista Galleria with shops and restaurants is directly adjacent to the property and offers a wide range of services without the guest needing to travel further. Kista underground station is reached in approximately five minutes' walk and provides a connection to Stockholm city centre in 18 minutes, making the hotel accessible even for guests without a car. Kista Mässan is also within walking distance, making the location particularly practical for those with business in the area.
For guests with cars, parking is available on site for a fee. Arlanda Airport is reached by car in approximately 20 minutes, making the hotel a practical option for travellers with early or late flights. The hotel has no spa of its own, but a gym is on site and is open 24 hours for guests who wish to exercise outside regular hours.
Kista is primarily an office and technology district and offers limited cultural attractions in direct proximity to the hotel. Guests planning to visit Stockholm city centre daily should allow for approximately 18 minutes of commuting by underground. The location works best for those with business in Kista or along the blue line's northern stretch, and is a cost-effective alternative to city centre hotels for those travelling by car or having meetings at Kista Mässan.
