About the hotel

Two 19th-century buildings on Norrmalmstorg and the connection to Stockholm Syndrome

Nobis Hotel Stockholm is located on Norrmalmstorg in central Stockholm, housed in two interconnected stone buildings from the late 19th century. The hotel has 201 rooms and is part of Nobis Hospitality Group. It is a member of Design Hotels, as reflected in its full marketing name Nobis Hotel Stockholm, a Member of Design Hotels.

The property is historically charged in a way that the hotel itself highlights. This is where Kreditbanken was located, and it was in these premises that the bank robbery drama of 1973 unfolded – the sequence of events that coined the term Stockholm Syndrome. The hotel mentions this explicitly on its About Us page and describes the building as a culturally protected original from the late 19th century. The history is therefore not merely a curiosity that guests learn about on their own, but something the hotel actively communicates as part of the place's identity.

The location is central without being exposed to a through-road. Norrmalmstorg is a square, and the hotel has views towards both the square and an inner courtyard. Berzelii Park borders the property, which is confirmed by the Junior Suite page's description of the view. The interior design of rooms and suites is consistently created in collaboration with Swedish architecture and design firm Claesson Koivisto Rune, as stated on the hotel's rooms page. This creates a cohesive aesthetic with natural materials such as wool, wood, stone and glass in a colour palette of blue, grey and purple tones, with bathrooms clad in white Carrara marble from floor to ceiling.

Room categories from Small Single to Nobis Suite – sizes and what sets them apart

The hotel offers a broad spectrum of room categories. The smallest option is Small Single at 15 square metres with a DUX bed of 100 centimetres and a view towards either the city or the inner courtyard. The category suits a solo traveller whose priority is location and service rather than freedom of movement in the room. Small Double measures 17–22 square metres and has a 160 centimetre wide DUX bed. Standard Double holds the same size range but offers a wider bed of 160–180 centimetres. All these categories have bathrooms clad in Carrara marble and toiletries from Swedish fragrance brand Byredo.

Deluxe rooms measure 25–33 square metres, face Norrmalmstorg and have a 180 centimetre wide DUX bed, bathtub and shower. Superior rooms are listed as a separate category with a separate seating area and workspace, making them more functional for those who need to work from the room over several days. Among the suites is Junior Suite in five units of 32–35 square metres with views towards Norrmalmstorg or Berzelii Park, 180 centimetre wide DUX bed, separate seating area, bathtub and shower. Corner Suite exists in three units of 47 square metres with views in two directions and a 200 centimetre wide DUX bed. Panorama Suite is 53 square metres with a 200 centimetre wide DUX bed and views over Norrmalmstorg and Berzelii Park.

Nobis Suite is the hotel's most spacious category at 98 square metres, divided into two rooms with original features in the form of 19th-century panelling and stucco work, and can be connected with adjoining rooms. Regardless of room category, all hotel guests have complimentary access to the hotel's gym, steam room and sauna, as stated on the official rooms pages.

Restaurant NOI, Bistro Bino, The Gold Bar and The Lounge – four environments under one roof

The hotel has two restaurants and two bar environments, giving guests genuine variety without leaving the building. Restaurant NOI is the more ambitious of the two and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a European-influenced food concept. NOI is open to outside guests as well and thus functions as a meeting place for Stockholm residents and hotel guests in parallel. Breakfast at NOI is available for an additional charge and is not included in the room rate as standard, which means guests who prefer to eat out in the morning do not pay for something they do not use.

Bistro Bino offers a more relaxed format and is listed as a separate restaurant in the hotel's official navigation. The Gold Bar is the hotel's cocktail bar with a pronounced gold interior. The Lounge beneath the double glass dome constitutes a fourth environment – more open and accessible for spontaneous visits during the day, for example for a meeting over coffee or a glass of wine. The hotel's own description highlights The Lounge as a place to relax in, distinct from the restaurants' more structured format.

The four environments differ sufficiently that a multi-day guest can vary without leaving the building. It is a practical advantage for conference participants or travellers with a tight schedule who still want variety in their meals. The hotel offers meeting spaces for external and internal events with conference technology on site – the number of spaces is not stated uniformly in official communication and is therefore not provided here. Room service is available 24 hours a day, as stated on the hotel's own rooms pages.

Gym, steam room, sauna and the collaboration with HEAT by Sophia Lie

The hotel's wellness facility is open 24 hours and contains a fully equipped gym, a sauna and a steam room. Access is complimentary for hotel guests and requires no separate charge, as stated directly on the hotel's own rooms pages under the heading of what is included in the stay. A personal trainer can be booked for an additional charge via the hotel. There is no pool on the premises, which is worth noting for guests specifically seeking a hotel with swimming facilities.

In addition to the fixed facility, the hotel collaborates with HEAT by Sophia Lie. The hotel's official HEAT page describes the collaboration as directed towards Nobis guests and includes, among other things, infrared sauna wraps for room use, breathwork programmes, compression treatment and LED facial treatment. The hotel's page also states that HEAT by Sophia Lie offers treatments at NK, a short walk from the hotel, with packages created specifically for Nobis guests. It is an external brand with separate booking and its own prices – not a hotel facility included in the room rate.

The combination of the hotel's own gym and saunas with HEAT's treatment offerings gives guests seeking recovery a comprehensive option without needing to venture to a standalone spa at another address. Valet parking is available for an additional charge, as stated on the Nobis Suite page's list of add-ons. The hotel is part of Nobis Hospitality Group, whose other hotels in Stockholm include Hotel Skeppsholmen, as stated on the group's own pages.
