About the hotel

Apartment hotel in Kista's technology and exhibition district

Forenom Aparthotel Stockholm Kista is located at Torshamnsgatan 32 in Kista, Stockholm's northern technology district. The facility is operated by the Finnish chain Forenom, which specialises in apartment-like accommodation aimed at longer stays. The hotel was previously marketed under the name StayAt Apartments Kista, which can be seen in older booking links and reviews, but is now operated under Forenom's brand in the same property.

The location is distinctly business-oriented. Kistamässan – one of Stockholm's larger exhibition and conference facilities – is approximately a twelve-minute walk away. Kista Galleria, one of northern Stockholm's larger shopping centres, is one kilometre from the hotel and offers grocery stores and restaurants, which is convenient for guests who choose to manage their own catering. Kista underground station on the red line can be reached on foot in approximately ten to eleven minutes and provides connections to Stockholm city centre.

Helenelund commuter train station is approximately an eleven-minute walk away and opens up travel to Arlanda and Uppsala. For those travelling by car, parking is available at the property for a fee – this is not included in the room rate. Stockholm Bromma Airport is just over five kilometres away and is the nearest option for domestic flights. The hotel is non-smoking throughout the entire facility and has a lift to all floors. Express check-in and express check-out are available; the facility lacks a traditional staffed reception and guests receive check-in instructions and an access code prior to arrival.

Room categories from studio to three-bedroom

The hotel offers a wide range of room sizes distributed across four floors. The smallest unit is a Single Studio at 20 square metres with a single bed, intended for one guest. Double Studio and Twin Studio are both 25 square metres and accommodate up to two adults – the difference is the bed configuration: double bed and two single beds respectively. The wide range of configurations within the same size category makes it possible to choose based on preference.

The one-bedroom apartments are approximately 35 square metres and accommodate up to three guests, with two single beds in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. The family apartment has two bedrooms and space for up to six guests with two single beds, a bunk bed and a sofa bed – an arrangement that suits families with children or small groups. The most spacious category, Classic Apartment, has three bedrooms and accommodates up to six guests with a combination of single beds, a double bed and a sofa bed; it is primarily intended for groups or longer stays where several colleagues share accommodation.

All rooms have a kitchenette or kitchen equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, hob, coffee maker and kettle. All rooms have a 40-inch flat-screen TV with cable channels, desk, dining area and separate seating area. Breakfast is not included in the room rate but is offered for an additional charge. Check-in takes place without a traditional reception – guests receive an access code via email and can use express check-in and express check-out. Cleaning takes place once a week, not daily – a standard arrangement for apartment hotels focused on longer stays.

Breakfast, kitchen and common areas

Breakfast is offered at the hotel in the form of a buffet, but it is not automatically included in all room rates – whether breakfast is included depends on which tariff is booked and should be checked at booking. Google Hotels confirms that breakfast incurs an additional charge. Since the hotel primarily caters to guests with longer stays, self-catering is a natural option that reduces ongoing costs during a longer assignment.

All rooms have their own kitchenette or kitchen equipped for simple cooking: hob, microwave, refrigerator and kitchen equipment are included. There is no restaurant in the hotel's own premises, but Restaurant and Conference Nordic Forum is within a few minutes' walk. Kista Galleria, which is approximately one kilometre from the hotel, can be reached in about ten minutes on foot and houses several restaurants and grocery stores, which means that grocery shopping does not require a car or public transport.

In the common areas there is a fitness centre and a sauna at no extra cost to the hotel's guests, which is confirmed by HRS and Traveloka. There is also a pool table, a games room and a shared living room, which can be valuable for guests on longer stays. Shared washing machines are available in the facility. Luggage storage is offered, and pets are allowed for an additional fee according to Hotels.com and Expedia. Wireless internet is free throughout the facility, including in the rooms.

Practical considerations for exhibition visitors and longer business stays

The hotel's arrangement – own kitchen, weekly cleaning and apartment-like spaces – is clearly adapted for stays of several nights rather than a single overnight stay. Forenom's primary target group is seconded employees and project staff at Kista's technology companies. The arrangement offers economic advantages per night compared to traditional hotels, but assumes that the guest is prepared to manage part of their daily life themselves. Fitness and sauna are included at no extra cost to the hotel's guests, which adds value for longer stays. Breakfast is an optional extra for an additional charge and is therefore not automatically included.

For shorter stays in connection with exhibitions at Kistamässan, the hotel works well geographically – the walking distance is twelve minutes. The limited daily service – no room service and cleaning only once a week – means that guests who expect a traditional hotel arrangement should weigh this against the price. Check-in takes place without a staffed reception via a digital access code, and express check-out is available, which suits travellers with tight schedules and late or early arrivals.

The underground's red line from Kista station provides connections to Stockholm city centre, and the commuter train from Helenelund – approximately an eleven-minute walk from the hotel – opens up travel to Arlanda and Uppsala. Those planning trips to central Stockholm should allow for public transport to take approximately twenty minutes depending on destination and transfer time. Bromma Airport is the nearest option for domestic flights, whilst Arlanda is conveniently reached by commuter train from Helenelund. Parking at the property is available for a daily fee for guests arriving by car.
