Stockholm’s oldest district has received a new addition to its exclusive hotel scene. After three years of extensive renovation of a 17th-century building, Stadsholmen Grand opened its doors last month.
Historic Building, Modern Luxury
The building, which previously housed a trading house, has been carefully restored to preserve the historical details whilst being equipped with all modern conveniences.
“We wanted to create a hotel that honours the rich history of this place whilst offering our guests a world-class experience” – Hotel Director Maria Lindqvist
Rooms
The 45 rooms and suites vary in size and character. Several have views over Stortorget or Mälaren. The interior design blends Scandinavian minimalism with historical accents such as exposed beams and limestone flooring.
Prices from:
- Deluxe double room: 3,500 SEK/night
- Junior suite: 5,500 SEK/night
- Grand suite with terrace: 12,000 SEK/night
Restaurant
On the ground floor is the restaurant Stadsholmen Matsalar under the direction of Michelin-starred chef Erik Svensson. The menu is based on Nordic ingredients with inspiration from the building’s trading history.
Spa & Wellness
In the beautiful basement level, with original vaults from the 17th century, there is an intimate spa with sauna, steam bath and treatment rooms.
Our Review
Stadsholmen Grand fills a gap in Stockholm’s hotel market – a genuine luxury hotel in the absolute heart of Gamla Stan. For those who want to experience the capital’s history in truly close quarters, there is no better choice.
