About the hotel

Opposite Humlegården and a block from Stureplan

Scandic Anglais is located at Humlegårdsgatan 23 on Östermalm, directly opposite Humlegården park and within easy walking distance of Stureplan. This gives the hotel a dual location: on one hand, one of Stockholm's most vibrant entertainment and shopping districts with restaurants, bars and Sturegallerian just around the corner, on the other hand, one of the city centre's greener breathing spaces. The Royal Library is just across the street, making the neighbourhood unusually varied for being so central.

Östermalmstorg underground station is approximately 200 metres from the hotel and provides direct connections to Gamla Stan and Central Station without needing to take a taxi or bus. It is a practical distance even with luggage. Trams and buses are within easy walking distance, and Nybrokajen – from where boats depart to Djurgården and the archipelago – is conveniently reached on foot. The hotel also offers bicycles for hire for those who wish to get around independently and avoid public transport.

For those planning meetings or conferences in central Stockholm, the location is practical: Stureplan functions as a natural hub for business on Östermalm and Norrmalm. The hotel's conference facilities accommodate groups of up to 200 people, with total capacity for up to 500 guests at events. The fact that guests can stay on site and walk to the meeting room is a concrete logistical advantage that simplifies coordination, particularly for multi-day events. The hotel is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which means the operation meets the Nordic region's official environmental requirements.

Bar Anglais, the roof terrace and relaxation area

Bar Anglais is the hotel's ground floor bar and is described as one of Stockholm's longest bar counters. The bar features music every day of the week and a classic bar menu with food and drink, making it a regular destination even for Stockholm residents who do not stay at the hotel. The format works equally well for a quick after-work drink as for longer evenings, and the bar is open to the public and not exclusively for hotel guests. Please note that at the time of this review, the bar is closed for renovation until the end of October 2026, and the restaurant is closed until the end of March 2027 – current status should be checked when booking.

During the summer months, the roof terrace on the seventh floor opens. From there, there are views over the rooftops, Humlegården and the National Library. The terrace functions as a separate bar with DJ evenings and is a distinctive feature that sets the hotel apart from many comparable alternatives in Stockholm. The terrace is seasonal and not available during the winter months, which should be considered when booking.

The hotel has a relaxation area with gym, hot tub and sauna. The gym and sauna are open daily from 06:00–22:00. Breakfast is served for an additional charge and is not automatically included in the room rate, which should be checked when booking to avoid surprises. Luggage storage is offered free of charge. The hotel is entirely non-smoking and cashless and therefore does not accept cash payment, something to keep in mind before check-in and bar visits.

Room categories: from windowless cabins to suites with private terrace

Scandic Anglais has 226 rooms distributed across a broad spectrum of categories with clear differences in size, guest capacity and location. The smallest category is Cabin, a windowless room of 12–15 square metres on a floor below, intended for a maximum of one guest. It is a deliberate choice for those who prioritise price and do not depend on daylight – a reasonable option for those planning to spend most of the day outside the room. Standard Single is 13–15 square metres, also for a maximum of one guest but with a window, which for many guests is a decisive difference in comfort.

Standard rooms are 16–20 square metres and accommodate up to two guests. The Superior category is 26–28 square metres and takes up to two guests. Superior Plus at the same size accommodates up to three guests and has a private terrace with views of either Humlegården or Sturegatan – a concrete and noticeable difference from lower categories. Standard Family Three is also 26–28 square metres and accommodates up to three guests with a sofa bed, making it a practical option for families with children who want more space without booking a suite.

Junior Suite is the most spacious category, 35–44 square metres, with a bedroom and living room with sofa bed, and accommodates up to three guests. The separate living area allows guests to stay in different parts of the suite without disturbing each other, which is a real advantage for longer stays. All rooms have wooden floors, wifi and flat-screen TV. All rooms are non-smoking. Parking is available on site for a fee; current price should be confirmed when booking.

Conference, Swan Ecolabel and practical hotel information

Scandic Anglais has nine conference rooms and four group areas. The hotel can accommodate conferences for up to 200 participants and arrange events for up to 500 guests on a separate floor. This makes it a functional option for medium-sized corporate events in central Stockholm, with the practical advantage that participants can stay on site without needing to arrange transport between hotel and meeting room. Please note that the hotel is undergoing renovation with planned completion during 2027; conference organisers should check availability directly with the hotel.

The hotel is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the Nordic environmental label with requirements for energy use, chemical handling and waste sorting, among other things. The label requires regular recertification to be maintained. The hotel is cashless and accepts card payment; anyone planning to pay in cash needs to be aware of this in advance to avoid problems at check-in or in the bar.

Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out by 12:00 at the latest. The reception is staffed 24 hours a day, which is convenient for guests with late arrivals or early departures. Luggage storage is offered free of charge, and there is laundry and dry cleaning service. The hotel allows pets; specific terms should be confirmed when booking. There is a lift and adapted facilities for guests with disabilities. Wifi is free throughout the building. Ongoing renovation affects the bar, restaurant, lobby and a selection of guest rooms – current status should always be checked directly with the hotel before booking.
